365 days of music you need to know...Day 26/365 I was first introduced to this band on the 2000 compilation release A Fistful of Rock N Roll Volume 2, a series of comps organized and produced by Sal Canzonieri of ELECTRIC FRANKENSTEIN...and damn are they great. This particular track from The Streetwalkin Cheetahs is from their 2001 album, Waiting for the Death of My Generation. This is furious rock-n-roll with a serious punk ethic. Blazing guitars, rumbling bass, driving drums, and lyrics with just the right amount of angst delivered through spitting vocals, all with a solid sense of melody. The name comes from a line from The Stooges hit Search and Destroy, in which Iggy utters the perfectly written lyric, Im a street-walkin cheetah with a heart full of napalm, spitting pure angst and disenfranchisement...absolutely perfect. The band is the perfect mix of Stooges, Motorhead, Dead Boys, and a bit of modern punk rock. Interesting side note, the singer, Frank Meyer, is the older brother of actor Breckin Meyer, who is also an accomplished drummer, and is a former member of Streetwalkin Cheetahs, among other bands, and played on this album in particular. Quite an infectiously melodic way of throwing up the middle finger and yelling about how you cant take anymore bullshit. The sitar adds a really interesting depth to the tune. https://youtube/watch?v=l8mgIMHPhtA
