37 years ago Wednesday (April 2, 1977) I knocked on a door in a neighboring town and my future opened the door. There was Linda with an infectious smile waiting for me. It was the first time I ever saw her other than a picture. We left for dinner but the wait in line would have been too long to have time to go to her grandmothers house as I needed her blessing to continue the date with Linda. Lindas mom had died when Linda was 6 and she mostly raised by her grandma. I not only got grandmas blessing but I was a hit with grandpa. Soon afterwards we went to our local theater and saw the movie A Star is Born. Little did either one of us know then that this would lead to where we are today. Our journey encompasses vast highs and lows. Who would have ever thought that this blind date would lead to the place we are today. Who would have ever thought this connection would remain solid. Looking back now I wonder where I would be in this life had I told Beth and Lindas cousin Diane I was too afraid to call this soon to be life line on the blind date they were trying to set up. What started out as a shy 16 year old meeting a shy 18 year old has helped set in motion a full life of love, tears, heartache, pride, laughter, good times, bad times, and a shared respect for each other. Happy first date anniversary Linda.
