371whp / 405ftlbs/tq with 93 octane pump from BorgWarner EFR6258 on Harrys 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STI: At the end of last year I purchased a EFR 6258 system for my 2005 STI. You said I could expect ~340-350 horsepower on 93 octane, we didn’t discuss torque. Since I got the turbo installed Ive gotten a 1st and 2 2nd place finishes in autocross; all were pre-tune where I gained 20 horsepower, 25 ft-lbs of torque and quicker spool from the tune. Last week I completed dyno tuning of my car and wanted to provide feedback on how well the turbo/engine performed. ENGINE DETAILS: Internally, the engine has stock crank w/Manley rods and CP pistons, heads have Crower valve springs w/titanium retainers, stock cams are used. Cosworth oil pump is installed with Killer B Motorsport oil pickup. Externally: I have TGV deletes w/phenolic spacers installed. Intake manifold had been smoothed internally. I use an APS top mount I/C, Samco inlet, AEM Performance Electronics cold air intake. The tune is done with COBB Tuning The inlet air temperature remains within 7°F of ambient air temperature. Hood shrouding is modified to get air routed over entire the surface of I/C. The dyno was a Mustang @ Central Florida Turbo All dyno runs were made in 4th gear. This was a roll on to full throttle, instant flooring increases boost rise rate from low engine speeds. This is a tune I can race autocross with; I may actually reduce boost targets down to 19psig to improve traction limits in 2nd gear, we’ll see. Boost onset was improved upon with increased tip-in enrichment mods done after the dyno tune. Ambient air temp was 107°F and the inlet air temp was 111°F, the exhaust fans weren’t working so the dyno stall was a cooker. This is typical Florida summer weather. Needless to say, the car’s performance rocks! Thanks for the support you and Full-Race provided.
