#383 Greetings everybody! The L Confessions is indeed a very interesting page to read. Kudos to the person(s) whose brainchild this is. This is my first confession here. I dont mean to sound hateful, God knows there are already many haters out there for us who we have to deal with on daily basis for some. I just want to use this platform as a humble request to our community. We need to adopt a more caring eye for the newbies on the scene. These newbies are people who come to an event with the hope of meeting people who come from similar backgrounds, someone they can relate with, be genuine friends with. They are nervous, scared and the anxiety gets the better of them to come to an alien place full of strangers and for a socially awkward person like me, the stakes only get higher. We don’t come to an event to be groped, to grind or to be hooked with somebody for a one-night stand. It only scares us further leaving us with more frustration that we just don’t belong anywhere.. Not in the straight world, not in the gay world.. and crushes all the courage, that we had once summoned up to attend an LGBT event, to repeat our actions and attend another event. So please develop a kind eye to newbies and let them feel safe and secure and please treat them with dignity and respect and not as an object of desire. It kinda hurts.. I know most of us are kind and not like what I mentioned in my personal experience, but we ‘kind ones’ tend to be comfortable in our own groups and don’t reach out to new people. It’s time we get out of our comfort zones to make other people around us comfortable. In case, you don’t recognize a new kid on the block, they are most likely sitting alone in a corner.. just look in their eyes and you will see the fear.. Just lend a helping hand to this person.. Till then, let me muster up my lost courage to attend another such event with the hope that things this time will be different and will look up for me..
