3D competition in Villingen Schwenningen, 14th and 15th of September 2013 Final report The competition: Organization: Great, excellent organized, very friendly, very forthcoming and helpful. For those who wanted to do camping there was possibility at the field with water and electricity supply and enough space. For food and beverages was looked after, with really friendly price and good quality, with a lot of options of warm dishes, some small fast dishes and cakes. For drinking there was a great variety from water, to apple juice, coke, bier and vine. The entire area is great and very spacious with nice possibilities for warm up prior to the event at a target field with the targets put up every 10 meters (11 yards) from 10 to 60 meters. The field and its location: The field is located in the middle of the German Black Forest in southern Germany, one of the most beautiful areas of Germany for natural tourism. The facilities are located at an old shooting facility of the French army, and offers really nice shooting possibilities with total safety. The weather was ok, mid September is when it starts to get a little colder in Germany, and the area is located at 700 meters (770 yards) above see level, so it gets some colder. In both days the day started with a light rain that by midday stopped and by 15:00 (3 PM) gave space to some sunshine and a really nice afternoon. It was also nice to notice that most of the archers were returning archers, that had participated in previous events. The pacour: The pacour was put up in a butterfly form, in 3 separated circles, so after every 1/3rd of the targets the archers would pass the main area where you could get good food, make a break and have some to drink. The breaks where depending on the group, there was no need of hurry and the targets where placed far enough so no group would run over the other, but at the same time not too far to get too tired in walking – just perfect far all, inclusive kids. The difficulty of the pacour vas easy to intermediate, with some few shots up and down, most of the targets where put ad ground level, the entire area is quite plane, but the targets where put in a really nice format with a lot of animal groups, trying to simulate real life situation. As an example, the rats where put in a group of 6 rats, so we had groups of 3 dears, and of 5 hogs with little ones, the same with the tigers in a 2 group, and eagle chasing 2 rabbits, a coyote hunting a goose, a fox hunting 4 ducks, and so on. It was a really nice pacour, suitable for all ages and expectations, really nice to bring the entire family to participate. And you could see entire group of families shooting, daddy, mom and kids of all ages and the dog accompanying the group, very familiar atmosphere. Also the targets and groups where put very loose, everyone could choose with whom he/she wanted to soot with – maximum of 7 archers per group. The targets: All 3D targets where quite new and in excellent shape, there where all sizes, from the small moles, up to a bison, an elephant, a dino and a 7 foot high grisly, really nice. The arrows where easy to pull out, and the 3D where put in such a way to minimize arrow loss. The entire area was perfect thought after and very secure. At the end of the event there was the odyssey challenge, where you needed to shoot through the rings and try to hit the rubber chicken at the other end. For each shoot arrow you paid 0,50 Cents (around 70 US cents), and in the total there where shot 600 arrows at through the rings. The money was then given to a charity organization that takes care of disable people (bcvs.de/index.php/aktuell/64-scheckuebergabe) . It is defiantly an event to come again, with friends and family. All bow types are welcome, and all archers, independent of the experience and competence, everyone will have his/hers share of fun, granted. Congratulation to Jürgen Löchelt and the Villingen club team for such a great event. It is not easy to put such a great and well though event and then run it in harmony without any incidents and then clean everything up at the end after all went home, happy. Congratulations. The event was great, and the region is ideal for tourism with beautiful landscapes en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Villingen-Schwenningen .
