3Ds MAX: Forces- Wind In this part we will see how forces work; step by step. If you want to simulate wind blowing (assuming you have created an object to apply the force to, like a particle system or maybe a piece of fabric) go to: Command Panel> Space Warps> Forces> Wind. Click and drag somewhere on a viewport to place the icon; keeping in mind that the direction of the force is perpendicular to the view. Adjust the parameters to define the force’s Strength (wind effect), Decay (0= same strength everywhere in the scene) and choose between Spherical and Planar; the former centers the force on the warp object and changes the icon’s shape and the latter keeps it perpendicular to the plane (icon) through the entire scene. Those options; Strength Decay and Spherical/Planar are standard for all forces You can also adjust the Turbulence effect making objects move randomly and change the turbulence Frequency and Scale. You can use the spinner in the associated with the Icon Size to change it. If you check he box labeled Range Indicator; the icon changes to represent the actual range and will be visible only in the views within that range.
