3PM NEWS UPDATE WITH Orange A Ugandan soldier that was serving in Somalia was sentenced to 30 years in jail for the murder of his girlfriend. Corporal Herbert Rwakihembo lived and served in Somalia under the Ugandan contingent in Amisom for five years. According to Judge Advocate Major Raphael Mugisha, in 2012, Herbert returned from Somalia on official leave and decided to pay his “mistress” a visit, when he found her with her boyfriend, a motorcyclist in a room he was renting for the lady, he went back to the barracks, got a gun and shot at both of them. He however wants the court martial to quash the 30-year sentence, arguing that he was provoked to shoot and that he didn’t intend to kill anybody. The NRM Youth League delegates from Agago District who got stranded in Lira Town after the cancellation of the delegate’s conference on Monday have asked the party to meet their cost of transport and accommodation in Lira. The irked youth who travelled from different parts of Agago allege that they spent over 1 million shillings on food and lodge fees after the party called off the conference. However Northern Youth MP Evelyn Anite says that she had advised the youth not to travel before her confirmation adding that they were supposed to only be seven members not 20 as they allege. Church Officials have reported that A Ugandan priest working with indigenous people in Mexico has been kidnapped. Bishop Alejo Zavala Castro said the priest, identified as Father Sean John, was abducted by gunmen a week ago in the violence-plagued southern state of Guerrero. The bishop added that He was kidnapped while driving a pickup truck after celebrating mass in an indigenous village. The priest had been working in Mexico for the past three years. Guerrero is one of Mexicos poorest states and a hotbed of drug trafficking activity. Hundreds of UK tourists are being evacuated from parts of the Kenyan coast, after the Foreign Office warned of a high threat from terrorists. Tour operators Thomson and First Choice cancelled all flights to Mombasa until October and said 400 holidaymakers would be flown back as a precaution. The main threat has been linked to the militant Islamist al-Shabab group. TUI Travel, which operates Thomson and First Choice, said those already in the country would be flown home by Monday. Jay Z, Beyonce and her sister Solange say they are a united family despite a fight seen in a leaked video. In a joint statement released today, Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred.
