3ds Max Design. Lighting Analysis, Part 6: Light Meters Light meters are helper objects to register and display lighting levels on viewports. They are transparent but it can affect ambient occlusion rays. You have to turn off ambient occlusion when preparing to perform lighting analysis. To create a light meter; you can either go to: Lighting Analysis menu> Lighting Analysis Assistant > Analysis Output panel> Light Meters rollout> Create A Light Meter or go to: the Command panel> Create tab> Helpers> Standard> Light Meters and then click and drag on an orthographic viewport (left or right so it will be upright) to create a rectangular shape. To edit a light meter, select the helper and modify the parameters on the command panel. You can activate/deactivate, edit the size and display options or export the light meter to a text file format in CSV (comma separated values)
