3rd December 1971: Pakistan had launched Operation Chengiz Khan - pre-emptive air strikes on 11 Indian airbases was carried out. This lead to Indias entry into the war of independence in East Pakistan on the side of Bangladeshi nationalist forces - the Mukti Bahini. Lasting just 13 days, it is considered to be one of the shortest wars in history; General Niazi surrendered to Indian Army bringing an end to the misadventure of Pakistan. At night, two officers displayed exemplary courage & held off a major Pakistani thrust from West. Major KS Chandpuri & Wing Commander MS Bawa with 120 troop took on fully mechanized Pakistani offensive - 2000 troops, 65 tanks, 138 military vehicles. Remembered as the Battle of Longewala cost Pakistan - 200 soldiers killed, 34 tanks lost, 500+ vehicles destroyed or abandoned. I am proud to say Mera Bharat Mahan https://youtube/watch?v=9fy3XLnWsok
