3rd edition of continuing saga to get my $4000 down payment on a new driveway refunded. Went to court today to discover assets of Pathways Concrete/Steve E Taylor-Montgomery, IL. Waiting for my case, Tom Ratz, supervisor for plaintiff shows up and wants to talk to me before case. Makes excuses, doesnt know what they owe me, etc but will pay me as soon as they can get a bank loan. I asked if he had a cashiers check in hand and he said no. I said lets let the judge decide what is next. Judge agreed to continue case until 4/30/14. Tom made the promise to the judge that I would be paid within 3-4 days but definitely before 4/30/14. We will see. Tom said the weather is killing their work so my guess is they are looking for someone to give them $4000 down for work to be done in the spring so he can pay me what he owes me... I will say that Kane County Sheriff tried to serve them 6 times to show up today but was unsuccessful. Amazing Tom showed up. He told me their lawyer told them someone better show up or they would be in jail. I guess I finally got their attention. Tom promised me a certified check to cover my $4000 and $350 for my costs. Why does it require 5 months, 3 court dates, $350 in my costs, and probably 10-15 hours or my time to simply get my money back? We will see, we will see...
