4.0 TREMOR ILOILO CITY, Iloilo (PNA) - A magnitude 4.0 earthquake which hit Antique province noontime Tuesday was also felt in neighboring Aklan province. Engineer Arlo Sabar of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs)-Aklan said the earthquake of tectonic origin was recorded at 11:55 a.m. The epicenter was located nine kilometers north, 41 degrees west of Barbaza, Antique at a depth of 17 kilometers. In Aklan, intensity 3 was felt in Libacao town while intensity 1 slightly shook Aklan’s capital, Kalibo as well as Numancia and Lezo towns. No damage was reported in the incident. P.C.S. ANNIVERSARY BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occ. (PIA) – The Bacolod city government joined government agencies nationwide in observing the 113th Philippine Civil Service anniversary recently. Activities led by the city’s Human Resource Management Services (HRMS) department included free medical services provided to Bacolod Government Center employees in coordination with the City Health Office. HRMS workers also participated in a Race to Serve fun run and organized a forum on Civil Service Commission and Government Service Insurance System updates. POLICE-TEACHER PROJECT ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) –Police officers will be visible in schools again with the relaunch of the “Pulis Ko, Titser Ko” project in Capiz. First launched in 2010, the project is a Philippine National Police-Department of Education partnership aimed at crime prevention awareness in schools. Capiz Police Provincial Office Information Officer Donna Asmod said the project was simultaneously relaunched in 27 elementary schools in Aklan. Asmod, with SPO1 Rowena Cantomayor, and PO3 Edeliza Molas comprise the “Pulis Ko Titser Ko” personnel representing the Capiz Police Provincial Office in conducting weekly 30-60-minute classroom instructions on crime prevention and child safety until the end of the current school year. E.VISAYAS VOTERS TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte (PNA) - Some 2,664,952 registered voters in Eastern Visayas will cast their votes in the October 28 barangay polls. Commission on Elections (Comelec) data reveal that nearly 90,000 additional voters have been added to some 2,576,250 registered voters in the midterm elections, registering an increase of around 3.5 percent. Leyte province now has 1.109 million registered voters from 1.073; Samar has 499,246 from 481,275 registered voters; Northern Samar has 389,230 from 375,268; Eastern Samar has 297, 974 from 287,863; Southern Leyte has 261,821 from 254,389; and Biliran now has 107,996 registered voters from 104,712 in the last elections. PRICE MONITORING DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PNA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Negros Oriental is monitoring prices of basic commodities in flood-hit areas in the province’s southern part. Consumer Welfare and Business Regulation Division chief Angeline Gonzalez, along with Center for Consumer Welfare members inspected business establishments in Siaton, Sta. Catalina, Bayawan City and Basay last Monday. Those areas were badly hit by flooding since the past weekend after many major rivers here overflowed due to continuous and heavy rains for at least three days.
