Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang started for the first time together alongside Kuba and Lewandowski with Sahin and Gündogan in central midfield. Gündogan was treated to a great welcome from the many Turkish fans who were amongst the almost sell out crowd of 7029 in the Cashpoint Arena. Then Lewandowski lobbed onto the bar and was soon in again courtesy of Mkhitaryan on 40 minutes. Aubameyang also saw an effort skid across the face of the goal as the first half neared its end. 4-1: BVB outstanding against Bursaspor [13.07.] A quick hop across to Austria from Switzerland saw BVB continue their pre-season based in Bad Ragaz with a game in Altach against Turkey´s Europa League team, Bursaspor. Bursaspor also had their moments often finding space in and around the box but the first half was dominated by BVB and the more than deserved second goal duly arrived courtesy of Aubameyang who latched onto a superb Mkhitaryan pass to make it 2-0 at the break. It was, all in all, a very impressive display by BVB with players constantly changing positions as Klopp tested various theories, one being Lewandowski wide and Aubemeyang down the middle. Sahin and Gündogan secured a midfield that saw Mkhitaryan display his full range of attacking talents. Half-time saw BVB change the team completely. But continue to dominate proceedings. Weidenfeller was welcomed to the game and duly showed his class to thwart a rare Bursaspor chance. Soon, it was busy at the other end though, and a drilled pass from Hofmann to Schieber allowed the striker the time to cushion the ball into the path of Reus, 3-0. An own goal followed soon after this to make it four and with Bender having to leave the field early with a slight injury, BVB opted to see out the game with just ten men. This allowed Bursaspor the opportunity to notch a conciliation goal when Cinas headed home a corner in the closing seconds.
