[4.26] [ The Dance ] It was the first time someone had asked her to the dance. The college prom was something that everyone except her waited for, so eagerly. She would spend those nights alone , cursing her destiny and lamenting her loss. This year was different. He had asked her to the prom. She wondered why he had. He was the kind of guy who could have got the prettiest girl of the college dancing with him. He was the kind of guy who could have played a prince, if it had been the fairy tale era. And, he was the kind of guy nobody could have refused to dance with, so couldnt she. He had something in his eyes, his voice that was so convincing When the much awaited day arrived, she put on her best dress, a turkish blue one, a color she thought suited her and the occasion as well. They went to the dance together. Nobodys eyes spared a glance when they saw her there, with the guy that so many others had wanted to dance with. Amidst the crowd, the music and the lights, she felt nervous but he held her hand. She felt weak but he told her it was nothing to worry about. He heard his favourite song Like walking on air play and he twined the fingers of his right hand with hers. Gently placed his left hand on her back, hers on his shoulder, looked into her eyes, smiled his most comforting smile and with perfect ease lifted her to place her foot on his own. He did it so easily and so beautifully. She was overwhelmed. It was the first time someone had asked her to the dance. It was the first time shed waited for the prom. It was the first time the music had made her happy. It was the first time someone had made her feel that her amputated foot didnt make a difference. - Admin: N, From the pages of a diary
