4.28.2014 6:20PM From what I have been told back in the 1960s there use to be a mandatory retirement age in the old Board of Education. Perhaps if there was a consensus that either 30 years or age 55, whichever came first would be welcomed by some especially if it erased the systematic eradication of veteran staff as is currently the practice. This is a major problem, I would think the Chancellor who is 71 herself should be aware or made aware and take proactive action to address this. The fact that the Chancellor is older than 95% of the employees comprising the NYCDOE should represent something. Publicity is key, there are several online movements addressing many causes from harassment on the job no matter what your age, age discrimination and of course the movement against common core. I am committed to draw us into the limelight and have done this through massive advertising and will continue to do so. All I can ask of you my brethren, is spread the word, tell your colleagues about the online movements, share these posts, etc. Hopefully people will take advantage of the TIPS line at [email protected] to submit ANY concern which will be forwarded through me to the right people. This movement must grow, and it has. 1,900 page likes Not bad, Lets see how long until we reach 2,000 page likes.
