4:55pm: Nat of Brisbane asks New Zealanders living in Australia are not entitled to many things that an Australian citizen moving to NZ is entitled to. Please read the facts & PLEASE end this discrimination. We pay tax to Australia yet cannot receive welfare should we fall on hard times. We cannot claim the NDIS that our wages contribute to. Even the Australian government website shows that NZers living in Australia have a higher percentage of workforce participation than those born in Australia. We are not her to bludge, we simply want to be treated equally & have some assistance should we fall on hard times through no fault of our own. Australia is the lucky country until it comes time to share; suddenly most Aussies only care about what they will miss out on if they save a refugee family from rape, poverty, & the daily threat of death. The Kiwi brothers who stood alongside you as ANZACs have been cast aside because you have no imminent use for us, ie; there is no world war at present. If YOU change the laws to allow us to vote, you will be securing almost 600, 000 votes! Mr Rudd: First of all hi to all our Kiwi friends. Great country, great people and will you please stop beating us at rugby. There are certain benefits to which Kiwis who do come here on a special category visa, which I think include family tax benefit, Medicare and access to the jobs networks services as soon as they arrive in Australia. But I would strongly encourage all Kiwis who want to be in Australia long term to apply to become permanent residents. And then citizens. Thanks to Darren Gosnell for sharing the link.
