4 DAYS LEFT TO SUBMIT YOUR WORK for Pulse of LA at the LA Artcore in Historic Little Tokyo Submit work at entrythingy/d=scwca.org Dates: March 18 to April 5, 2015 Venue: LA Artcore Gallery Address: 120 Judge John Also St, LA 90012 Entry Deadline: Sunday, 11/16/14 at 11:59 pm This SCWCA sponsored 2015 spring exhibition will explore how women in the arts are taking the pulse rate of our rapidly changing, interconnected world. The theme may be broadly interpreted from a political, personal or formal context through a variety of media. Artworks will be selected by Leslie Cozzi from the Hammer Museums curatorial department and will be on display during Womens History month at LA Artcores Union Center gallery in Little Tokyo. Artists at all career levels are invited to submit work for consideration. Entry fees are $10 for SCWCA members and $25 for non-members for up to three works of art. Artists interested in joining SCWCA can submit at the member rate if they join prior to uploading their submissions. You can find more information online on joining or to renew your membership. Artists may submit up to 3 works. Read the full prospectus online at scwca.org as additional terms apply and then submit your images through the entrythingy portal. The exhibition is open to all self-identified women artists in the Southern California region. Specifications: Work must be available for duration of exhibit. Size limit is 60 in any direction; weight limit is 40 lbs. 3D works can occupy no more than 4 of floor installation space. The artist must assist with installations of sculpture, complex 2-D works and installations. Wall-hung works must be suitably framed. No clip or saw-tooth hangers. Artist must supply equipment for any video / sound works. Guidelines for Online Submissions: Provide a statement for submitted work(s) that shows relevance to the exhibition topic. Limited to 530 characters. Name JPEG files as Artists Name and Title. Example: Smith_funhouse2.jpg. Do not use double quotation marks, colons or semi-colons in names. Submit all images in RGB color mode. Submit JPEGs sized 4 x 6 at 300 dpi resolution. Images must be at least 1200 pixels wide. The maximum file size is 8 megabytes. Mark dimensions as height x width x depth. Indicate whether inches or feet. For 3-D work, you can submit one image that combines multiple views or up to three views of the same work as discrete images. However, each image counts as a separate entry. Once payment is made via Paypal, neither image nor written information can be changed. Fees are non-refundable. About the Juror: LESLIE COZZI is a curatorial associate at the Hammer Museums Grunwald Center for Graphic Arts. Her areas of expertise include Feminist art, contemporary Italian art and works on paper. She received her doctorate in art history at the University of Virginia and previously taught at James Madison University. She is currently working with Connie Butler on a retrospective of Italian artist Marisa Merz that will open in 2016 at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. About the Venue: LA ARTCORE is a not for profit arts organization focused on the creativity of both emerging and established contemporary artists of diverse cultural backgrounds.
