Message Those who love the Lord Jesus will know how they are supposed to act: they are to love God and their neighbor! Summary 1) The Holy Spirit tells us what we are to do in the future. This also includes our preparation for the return of Jesus Christ! 2) The worthiness of the bride is measured by her love for God, for Jesus Christ, and for her neighbor. Context The main theme of the first epistle of John is love, which is discussed in detail in 1 John 4: 7–21. Our Bible text is at the core of John’s theology on love: the sending of Jesus Christ into the world is God’s deed of love which is intended to allow believers to have a life in love. This love is shown in the love we have for one another.
