Job Reference Number: PH/GM-OPS01 Job Title: General Manager (Operations) Reports to: Managing Director Description: Ideal candidate will advance this organization to a new level of excellence and achievement in the provision of high quality supermarket services. Working with skilled employee groups, the candidate will provide inspirational leadership balancing the internal and external demands of this role; he/she will be a visible presence within the organization and be recognized externally as a courageous leader of conviction and the organisation brand name in the community. Conversant with the operating metrics of a large and sophisticated supermarket, the candidate will be accountable for company’s financial resources, supermarket venture, supply chain and operations relating to supermarket management. Responsibilities: • Develop effective strategic relationships with key stakeholders – shareholders, vendors, customers and partners. • Develop relationships and networks with local, national and international retail organizations in order to maintain the company’s credibility and presence. • Ensure that operations are being implemented effectively and efficiently. • Business development: develop markets, attract new customers, add new products, explore and increase sales. • Inspire and lead others towards higher levels of performance. • Formulate strategies and policies and follow these through into strategic and operational activities • Communicate strategies to influence a diverse audience • Solve complex problems in a rational manner. Requirements: • 10-15 years experience • At least 7 years experience in supermarket management. • A good first degree • MBA and relevant professional certifications are desirable.
