4 Virtual Internship Positions for Fall 2014 with “Librarians without Borders” The plight of Central American migrants, including children from Guatemala, has been in the news for the past few weeks. A number of reasons have been given as to the upsurge in migrants entering the US, among them poverty and crime in their home countries. On a national level, partial solutions to stem the tide are being discussed and taken. But did you know that librarians, through their work with Librarians Without Borders, have been working diligently to promote literacy and learning in impoverished regions around the world including Guatemala and Ghana? This organization works with six universities in Canada but has expanded their internship program to offer virtual internships to SJSU/SLIS students for Fall 2014. Two internship listings are in our database at slisapps.sjsu.edu/internships/new/ 1. One listing is for 2 students to work as Communications Assistants. 2. The second listing is seeking 2 students to work as Guatemala Program Assistants. The deadline for applications is June 30, so get your application in as soon as possible.
