4-day International Film Festival of Kashmir begins at SKICC today Srinagar, August 17 The International Film Festival of Kashmir 2014 organized by Experimental Moving Images and Theatre Association (XMITA) will start from Monday at SKICC here. The film festival, which is forth edition of International Film Festival of Kashmir (IFFK) is marking XMITAs 10th anniversary with longest-ever lineup of movies across the globe. Over four days starting Monday, 44 movies in 10 international languages will be screened at a festival expected to attract some 2000 viewers. The selected films belong to seventeen countries including Syria, Russia, Armenia, Netherlands, Iran, Portugal, Germany, France, Kazakhstan, Korea, Canada, Serbia, Italy, Poland, Turkey, Jordan and India.IFFK 2014 began in 2007 which has since grown from a relatively small gathering in a basement to the largest festival in Srinagar. Prof Fida Muhammad Hasnain, Kashmirs veteran writer and historian will chair the jury of eminent experts that will choose the winner of the top awards, from among competing movies. Others who are in the jury include Bashir Budgami, a known Filmmaker; Bashir Bhawani, a known theater personality of Kashmir; Zarief Ahmad Zarief, poet and writer; Prof Rehman Rahi, veteran writer; Ghulam Nabi Khayal, writer and Journalist; Muhammad Shafi Pandit, literati and former bureaucrat; Shabir Mujahid, filmmaker and Director General Doordarshan; Dr Shujaat Bukhari, a know writer and journalist; Farooq Nazki, film critic and writer; Aziz Hajini.
