4 of 10: "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy." We live in a culture where hard work and responsibility are highly valued. In this culture we inadvertently believe that by doing we find worth. The fourth commandment is one of course correction--remember to rest, take time down, be still, play, enjoy life, and most of all, keep it holy. Did you get that? Keep it holy!! Observing a Sabbath rest is sacred. Something happens when you do so regularly. It brings a joy which you will not find until you persistently explore and experience it. My wife observes her Sabbath--her Shabbat--in the Judaic tradition--Friday sun-down to Saturday sun-down. I keep mine in two parts--Saturday sun-down to Sunday around 10:00am, and then from 2:30pm-3:00pm until Monday morning. Set your Shabbat--your day of rest! Let it reorder your day, week, and life. Take it a step further and observe the Judaic Shabbat service/celebration. To much to do you say? Exactly! You have lost the holiness of rest and the privilege the creator has sought to give you.
