4-year-old child creates world record PATHSALA, – Kavyam Kashyap, a four years and four month-old child of Milanpur ward no-4, Pathsala, scripted a world record on September 21 at the Bajali HS playground in an open test taken by Dr Abhijit Baruah, official of the Guinness Book of World Records and his team. Kavyam Kashyap had already entered his name in the ASSIST World Record, Asian Book of Records and the Indian Book of Records. He translated 516 English words into Assamese within 12 minutes. The earlier record was in the name of a 5 year 7 month-old child from the USA who had spoken 337 words in 10 minutes. Kashyap broke the earlier record. He was given 15 minutes including 3 minutes for general knowledge. The open test was organised in the Bajali HS School field in the presence of a jampacked enthusiastic audiance under the aegis of the Barpeta Zila AASU in association with the Pathsala Anchalik Students’ Union. Besides the officials of the Guinness Book of Records, Dr Dipak Kr Sarma, Vice Chancellor of the Kumar Bhaskarvarma Sanskrit University, Shankar Prasad Roy, president of AASU, Hrishikesh Goswami, secretary, Asom Sishu Sahitya Trust, Dr GV Sivaprasad Ganjawala,SP, Barpeta etc., were also present on the occasion and they all lauded the talent of the child. The officials of the Guinness Book of World Records informed that the performance details will be sent to London and kept open for 21 days as a challenge and if no one manages to beat his record his name will be entered in the Guinness Book. Kavyam Kashyap’s father Pranab Sarma is a businessman, mother Pompi Sarma, a housewife while he is presently studying in ‘Ankuran’ class of Pathsala Sikshapith, a private school.
