4 years ago, I started my college career at Northern Kentucky University with an undeclared major. I went, not because I loved the school, but because I had a comfort system in 3 of my best friends who would be with me along the road. 4 months later, I found myself unhappy and decided to change that emotional status by majoring in something that I knew I wasnt prepared for but decided I would embark in anyway - Music Therapy at the University of Louisville. Before I could even get acclimated to the university, I decided I was unhappy again. I withdrew from UofL and came home. At that point in my life, I truly was unhappy. I felt that I had failed myself and my family, both real disappointments for my personality-type. Little did I know that what those life events did for me was lead me to a true life that I never dreamed for myself. After sitting out a semester and feeling sorry for myself, I began working with some of the most incredible people (Heather Smith Jaimie Moffett Tina Lavy Samantha Caudle Candis Whortenbury Felita Greer) who taught me more than theyll ever understand about life and the reality of it. But I decided that I had to get myself back in school and live a life that God was intending for me, somehow. I enrolled at BCTC that fall where I met one of the most godly men I know and current boyfriend. ;) For a year I spent time finding myself and listening to Gods purpose for my life. It was during that time that God reached out to me through Kendra Melnitra Boles and LaMichael Jashawn and helped me understand what my own relationship with Christ is like. During this time, I also made the final answer decision to attend the greatest school in the Commonwealth 😉 and major in a field that I had never dreamed for myself. Now 2 years later, here I am, waiting to start my student teaching journey in Woodford County tomorrow. With Gods grace and the patience of Job, I have established a life for myself that I am so proud to call mine. Special Education is my life calling. I cant thank my little brother and parents enough for being the kickstarter behind this decision. I wouldnt trade the career God has called me to do for anything. Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout the last 4 years and for believing that I can make a real difference in this world. ❤️ Jeremiah 29:11
