4 years ago on this exact date. I killed the first buck on my papers old homeplace after many many days of hunting so I could shoot a buck just to show him. Finally on that day I got one, a 7 point. My dad and I loaded him up and took him back to my papaws house where we had to drag the deer up to the living room door for him to see being that he wasnt able to get up anymore..it was a great feeling to see my papaws eyes light up and see a jolt of happy energy run through him. After getting home that night we got a call.. not one I wanted to hear or believe...that night my papaws went to be with God almighty. Now, four years later Dec. 20th my papaws was surely watching over me being that I killed the biggest deer Ive ever shot this morning on his old homeplace once again. After getting to the deer I even shed some tears thinking about it. Hunting isnt just about killing things or bragging rights. To me its about the memories of a lifetime, stories I can someday pass on to my kids. Thank you God for allowing me to do the things I love!! And thank you papaws for sending this deer my way. I miss you..
