4 years ago today I proposed to my wife. It was scary. We had been dating for a while at that point, and I knew she was very special. I really thought about it... is this something you are willing to do... forever? With 55% of marriages ending in divorce, I think getting married is something everyone should take VERY seriously if thats what they decide to do. So I thought to myself... is this really whats best? I knew Ashley was great... the problem was that I didnt think that I was. I knew that if I could convince this girl to marry me then she would take on my problems, my drama, my issues and my personality. I am a lot. I am a lot to handle. Out of love for her, I considered that making her deal with me forever could be cruel... I thought to myself... ok... so what if I dont do it. Then what? What if I didnt have her? And my heart stopped. I panicked. I realized... I cannot imagine myself without her... I could not do it... I didnt want to. My life is better... so much better... with her in it. Literally... better. I thought about who she really was... because time changes things... the way we look... the way we act... but not our core. Not our foundation. That really is the one thing that stays the same. I knew that Ashley had a solid core I could depend on... build a family with... live with... and die with... So... I realized that I wanted to marry her... truly... and it was the most obvious and easy thing for me... and scary... because your whole life you imagine what the one will be like... and she was there... she had been there the whole time... even at the same school at one point... lol what are the odds. 4 years ago today, with my family there to see, I proposed. Without delay she said yes! It was a great moment I will never forget. Now we have a home in Rockwall, 2 dogs, an amazing foreign exchange student and a baby on the way. I am so blessed. It all started with this decision. I love you Ashley. Thanks for being my best friend.
