40 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR IGBOLAND DAY 5 Almighty God, Obasi di nIgwe, Eze ndi Eze; We give you thanks. We praise you because you deserve all honor and adoration. We thank you for making us the blessed children of Abraham, the people you have chosen as your own. We thank you for given us the Igbo culture for expressing our unity with all our brothers around the world. We thank you for giving us the Igbo language for expressing that culture. Thank you for the wonderful proverbs, the oil with which we eat words. Thank you for the culture of Igwe bu ike, with which we defeated the evil men that wanted to annihilate Igbo from the face of the earth. Through the Igwe bu Ike culture, we built our own schools and hospitals, gave ourselves good drinking water and electricity.Thank you for giving us the Onye aghala nwanne ya philosophy with which we overcame the plans of evil men to cripple us economically. Through this, you moved our hearts to love each other, to help each other, to open the doors of prosperity for each other and to lift each other up. Lord, you made an Igbo a blessing to another Igbo and those nearby. Thank you for giving us the Nka jim eje work ethics with which we work hard and aspire for great heights. Now, help us Lord to go back to these good cultural values and practices for which we have been known. Help every Igbo to know how to read and write the Igbo language. Help the Governors and Commissioners in charge of Culture and Tourism to know that we are Igbo and not Brazilians or British; that our cultural events can have Igbo names and that we enjoy Igbo cultural dances. Help the traditional rulers to be active and intentional about promoting Igbo language and Igbo unity. Chukwu Onye ebere, nyere umu gi aka. Help us to embrace our language so that we would continue to grow in unity and love. We pray these through Christ our Lord.
