400 kms BRM on 19th July: This is the first time M.R is offering this route. Heat will be the challenging factor from 10 am to 3 pm.That is from Valajapet to Vaniambadi. The climb is not very tough.I understand from organisers that its less than 2%. Check list: Bike,Helmet,Gloves,,Water proof zip lock for mobile, cash, cue sheet and BRM Yellow card, Tubes-4 duly checked,Light and spare batteries to sustain 14 hrs of burning,ATM card,Mobile phone,Cash in small denominations, Puncture kit,Pump,Reflective jacket, rain coat,Common salt, sun glass. Helmet light is useful in case of attending repairs at night. Check the bike thoroughly, clean the chain, cog, dereilleurs, break. Must have puncture liner. Tag the bike with your MR no. Make sure that your mobile is at full charge for communication. Dont overuse with applications/music. Take it easy on down hills.Dont rush to complete ahead of 27.5 hrs.No second medal for the early birds. Notes: 1.This is the first time we are riding this route. 2.At 90-98 kms on NH you will find Murugan idli shop.Better to carry sandwitch so that you sustain till 90 kms stop. 3.The 70 kms loop after Vellore may not have food joints. So please eat well and store water at Vellore. 4.Return after Vaniambadi is breeze.Star hotel will be offering Biriyani till 11 pm. 5.Between Kanchipuram and Tambaram the traffic will be very heavy.Sand laden trucks are parked in two lanes.Carry bright lights and tryu to be away atleast 3 feet from the trucks. 6.The bus shelters on the NH are quite safe and are reasonably clean for sleeping. All the Hotels and Petrol bunks have rest rooms. Best wishes to all riders.Average Speed required is just 15kmph.You can easily do it. Cheers. .
