#4094: I feel like a victim of one of the biggest bait and switch scams in history--yet I am but only one of the thousands of undergraduates that has just been conned by Emory. I specifically enrolled at Emory because it is, or WAS, a Top 20 school. I could have gone to Dartmouth or Georgetown but neither of those schools gave me enough financial aid. So I came to Emory thinking that I was compromising acceptably lower prestige with a more affordable degree. I have collected a significant amount of advertising material produced by Emory that specifically describes Emory as being a Top 20 School. The last time I checked, it is illegal to market and sell a product/service on a few selling points and to then abruptly not deliver the product/service without one of the significant selling points as described after the customer has already made their payment. What Emory has done here is an act of flagrant fraud. But then again, what else should I have expected from a school that knowingly falsified their SAT scores for over a decade? This is also the same school that once employed the fraud author Michael Bellesiles. I can no longer tell my friends and relatives that I go to a Top 20 school. I feel sick to my core. I feel like the biggest sucker in the world and Im now literally going through the five stages of grief. I may as well have gone to UGA Honors for next to nothing seeing as how an Emory degree is now worthless. I can already picture James Wagner in the back of a Maybach howling with laughter while holding a glass of champagne in his hand as he is chauffeured from his sprawling Druid Hills mansion to his Buckhead penthouse suite. At least I can say that Ive now learned a VERY expensive lesson...
