41 Foreign Coaches Hired for SEA Games ………………………………………………………… Yangon, June 6 An official from the Myanmar National Sports Committee and Physical Education Committee, a branch of the Ministry of Sports, claim that 41 foreign coaches have been hired for 33 types of sport to help Myanmar succeed in the 27th South East Asia Games (SEA Games). He says, “Currently the salaries of the foreign coaches amount to 127,400 U.S dollars.” As inquired from the office of the Ministry of Sports, 1500 U.S dollars are paid monthly to each of the four Chinese coaches that train athletics, Wu Shu, acrobatics, and Kenpo; 2000 U.S dollars are paid monthly to the Chinese boxing coach; and the remaining coaches are are paid 1000 to 2000 U.S dollars each monthly. In addition, 2000 U.S dollars are paid per month to each of the 16 Thai coaches that train inexperienced youth athletes in the Yangon Institute of Sport and Physical Education and Nay Pyi Daw Sports Training Camp for the 2015 Singapore SEA Games. The said list of 41 foreign coaches does not include coaches from China’s sport aid program. Based on the information from the Myanmar National Sports Committee, apart from the 41 foreign coaches, there are many other coaches that will be hired in the future.
