45 Days of Gratitude to Christmas: Day 10: We are grateful for the opportunity to expand the variety of support nets available to our community partners and institutions. Today’s Mobile Food Pantry at Lowell Elementary School in Southeast Albuquerque brought over 80 families and individuals with the gracious support of Morgan Stanley, Central United Methodist Church, and parent volunteers. However, Lowell Elementary stands out in another exciting way. Lowell is now running a pilot “In-School Pantry” program to meet the needs of their students and families, in addition to the Mobile Food Pantry and other public assistance programs. From fresh Red Rome apples to generous spreads of deli breads and frozen meats, Lowell Elementary has now implemented not one, but two distinctive support nets for food security alongside school meals. Many thanks to Lowell Elementary School, Morgan Stanley, Central United Methodist Church, and all of the parent volunteers who help nourish Southeast Albuquerque families and provide an example for all of us!
