45 Years Ago Today Around 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 1969, dense fog caused a multiple vehicle accident on the New Jersey Turnpike. The accident occurred in the southbound lanes about a half mile north of Exit 2 in Woolwich Township, Gloucester County. According to a report from the National Transportation Safety Board, 29 vehicles were involved in the pile-up. There were 6 fatalities and 18 people were injured. This event provides a remainder of how dangerous dense fog can be, especially when vehicles are travelling at high rates of speed.
