45 years ago a man on a mission lost his life for that mission. A Southern Baptist pastor who initially thought his purpose was to preach, later found out there was more work to do. A man who loved his wife and his four children would be moved with a passion strong enough to let go of his own life and family for the promise of a better life for others. A man with the faith of Noah. A man after Gods own heart like David. A man who said to us Like Anybody Id Like to Live a Long Life-Longevity has its place, but Im not Concerned With that Right Now. I just want to do Gods Will. As we remember the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. let us be reminded that he made a difference for us. He made that difference with the intention that we take advantage of the opportunities that his parents didnt have. Times have changed. We have an African American President yet we still have work to do. Each of us needs to take inventory. Make a difference in your circle. Making a difference in the life of your children is where it starts. Then our children go out into the community and make a difference as well. Make a difference on your job. Dont just go to work. Be a performer. Stand out. Not by the color of your clothes but the strength of your character. Dont make my dads statement ring true. He often says Martin Luther King died for nothing When he sees our communities being destroyed by ourselves. WE are an amazing people. Strong people. Weve endured the atrocity of slavery. Weve learned to still smile in the midst of unimaginable circumstances. God has toughened our skin while softening our hearts. Friends and Family dont lose your ability to see favor in your future. Dont lose the sight of your Dream.
