45 years ago, humans left Earth and took their first baby steps toward a Type I Civilization. There were no gods or angels, only humans guided by the laws of physics and science. The Earths population watched on in awe in crowded bars, tv stores, and in the streets of almost every nation as mere men took to the sky in wonder and bravado, and for possibly the first time in our existence, we all were the same race. While we still are in our infancy of reaching Type I, hundreds of years from now when the goal is reached, our offspring will look back at that moment, if just for a second, and watch with the same awe and inspiration and know full well that humans can do anything they put their mind to.
