47. After the events of The War Games, the Third Doctor (Pertwee) became exiled on Earth with an unfunctioning Tardis (Spearhead From Space). He chose to become the science advisor to UNIT, working alongside the Brigadier with companions Liz Shaw, and then Jo Grant. This Doctor was a dandy! He combined Vensuian Aikido with diplomatic charm and was suave to no end. Being unable to move through Space/Time, the Doctor builds Bessie as a substitue. This Doctor first faced Silurians, Sontarans, and the Sea Devils, but most importantly, he was the first to enounter the Master. His final companion was Sara Jane Smith (Planet of Spiders). John Pertwee portrayed the Doctor for five season in 24 full colour episodes (and 15 audio plays). He died on May 20th 1996. Happy Birthday to the Third Doctotr!!
