47 years ago today, on October 17, 1967, it took place the first recording session for “John Wesley Harding” at Columbia’s Nashville Studios. By then, 18 months had passed since the completion of “Blonde on Blonde” and Bobs near-fatal motorcycle accident in 1966. During this three hour session Bob, accompanied by drummer Kenneth A. Buttrey and bassist Charlie McCoy, recorded “Drifter’s Escape”, “I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine” and “The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest”.
