49 years ago today, Sonny & Cher were part of the bill for two nights at the Cocoanut Grove nightclub on the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for the The Big Teen-Time Dance Show of 1965 .The ballroom venue, designed by William H Weeks in 1907, and located upstairs above the Boardwalks amusement park & arcade, was a popular spot along the coast for Big Band & Concerts in the 1940s with bands featuring such luminaries as Tommy Dorsey and Gene Krupa... It still is used today, mostly as a wedding venue, but sporadically as a concert venue, where bands like Girls, M.Ward and Govt Mule have performed in the 21st century.
