4th day of BHM. This is one of my favorite artists simply because the art is crazy. Jean-Michel Basquiat was an black artist, musician who became famous in New York by writing graffiti sayings on buildings using the pseudonym SAMO which is now recognized as a short phrase for same old shit. Basquiat was called the Eddie Murphy of the art world for his paintings which by all means were not funny. His paintings are a story about his experience as a famous artist referring to people in the art world as leeches. He also explored the slave trade, inequality of the races in his paintings. He died of a heroin overdose at age 26...So today we give it up to Jean-Michel Basquiat. basquiat/
