5/10/14 Daily Bible Reading: 2 Kings 17-19, Acts 5, Proverbs 31 I don’t know about anywhere else, but in the USA it is Mother’s Day tomorrow. I included Proverbs 31 as required reading for all of you who wonder how to thank Mother. 2 Kings 17:11-12 (NKJV) There they burned incense on all the high places, like the nations whom the LORD had carried away before them; and they did wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger, for they served idols, of which the LORD had said to them, You shall not do this thing. Acts 5:1-5 (NKJV) But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God. Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things. Acts 5:39 (NKJV) but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it--lest you even be found to fight against God.
