5/22/14 Tracking Trinity Pines with Marilyn Lohman Some very sad news from last week. Casey Lejman, the longest resident at Trinity Pines died last Saturday morning. I have now taken that place. It was a shock to us all. His daughter, Sandie, flew here from Tucson, AZ, last Friday and was able to have a fulfilling conversation with him the night before he died. He will be missed by so many including his grandson, Terry (from Maine), who came to be with his mom along with Sandie’s husband, Scott. A Memorial Service was held this morning at Trinity Lutheran Church. Our deepest sympathy to the family. Colorful shirts was the scene a week ago on Monday when Bahama Bob entertained the residents on a traditional hand made steel drum from Trinidad. The style of music comes from the Caribbean islands. Anyone who has been on a Caribbean cruise or visited in that area remembers seeing and hearing this drum music. Very unusual. A surprise visit from the American Family Choir to the Pines last week. A knock on the door 15 minutes before their performance brought many of us to the dining room to, again, enjoy their musical expertise. Mix ups turn out pretty good quite often. My monthly bridge foursome (Carol Smith, Margot Peters, Ruth Topel) decided to have lunch and play bridge at the Milford Hills Hunt Club last week but to our chagrin the club had a planned men’s shooting group for lunch. Now this was not a small group, but like 50 to 75 men. It was fine when they were outside for 1 1/2 hours but it was pretty noisy when both dining rooms were filled with these guys after the hunt. We left to go to Ruth’s house to finish our bridge game. Live and learn. Last Sunday, a van full of residents went to Madison to attend the show, “Million Dollar Quartet” at the Overture Center. This nation wide touring show based on that historical event that brought Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash together for the greatest impromptu rock ‘n’ roll jam session in history some years ago. A feature of the show is when Elvis Presley hands a white scarf to someone in the audience. Our very own Irene Sullivan has that white scarf. Think of the excitement she must of felt when it was presented to her. I heard it was some fabulous entertainment. Bits and Pieces: Don’t forget the Bon Worth Style Show next Thursday, May 29 at 2PM...Ann Lee had a slide show with her pictures from Scotland last Friday. It’s a lovely country to visit...Helen Geisler welcomed visitors, Sandy (Eagle) and Jennifer (Mukwonago), a short time ago. MEMORIAL DAY: I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free and I won’t forget the men who died who gave that right to me...We come not to mourn our dead soldiers but to praise them...On what rests the hope of our republic? One country, one language, one flag. This is what they fought for.
