5/25/14 So Much to Remember: a Memorial Day Message based on exodus 13:3 by Dr Joe K Taylor, Senior Pastor, South Reno Baptist Church So Moses said to the people, “This is a day to remember forever—the day you left Egypt, the place of your slavery. Today the Lord has brought you out by the power of his mighty hand. - Exodus 13:3, NLT 10 Things Worthy of Our Remembrance 1. Remember the time and place of your Salvation. Luke 15:7, NIV84 - 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. 2. Remember the pit that was prior to our Salvation. Psalm 40:2, NKJV - 2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. 3. Remember the place we are now after salvation. Revelation 2:4–5, NASB95 - 4 ‘But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. 5 ‘Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place—unless you repent. 4. Remember our vows and commitments. Ecclesiastes 5:4–5, NIV84 - 4 When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it. Remember to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ. 1 Samuel 12:23, KJV 1900 - 23 Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you…. 2 Timothy 1:3, NASB95 - 3 I thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience the way my forefathers did, as I constantly remember you in my prayers night and day…. 6. Remember the truths of God. John 14:26, NASB95 - 26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. Revelation 3:3, NASB95 - 3 ‘So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you. 7. Remember our parents. Psalm 71:9, NIV84 - 9 Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone. 8. Remember our soldiers—our heroes. John 15:13, NASB95 - 13 “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. Romans 13:7, NIV84 - 7 Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. 9. Remember “The old paths.” Jeremiah 6:16, NKJV - 16 Thus says the Lord: “Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ 10. Remember The Lord. Nehemiah 4:14, NIV84 - 14 After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them.
