5:45 AM 07.02.13(Forecaster Darius Mack)| Morning Weather| Dense Fog this morning for most locations this morning, and all this stuff is expected to lift when the sun shows up. It’s officially July and it’s bringing it’s signature, yesterday some areas had dealt with flood warnings and today the same threat remains for potential flooding. How’s the weather shaping up for your 4th of July festivities? And will it always be this wet throughout the week? This answer is in the forecast: TODAY: Afternoon showers and storms will pivot and develop across the Missouri river valley, similar to what we’ve seen yesterday, some of these storms could bring big barrel loads of water, the reason being is because the air is sucking in all that tropical moisture down from the Gulf of Mexico. This means bigger and heavier droplets, and we are also watching out for the potential for some clusters to reach severe status later on this afternoon. Highs will reach 78 degrees. TONIGHT: Showers and storms look to still remain on the radar, depending on where you live, I suspect greater amounts of rain with thunderstorms. Lows tonight will be around 65 degrees. WEDNESDAY: Shower and storm chances appear throughout the heating of the day, an extra additional .50” could be added to some areas from all of this rain. Greater chances for rain is around lunchtime, and not to mention another concern about strong to potentially severe storms that could fire up. Highs will reach the 80-82 degree range across central Kentucky. Lows will be around 68. WEEKPLANNER: THURSDAY:(INDEPENEDENCE DAY) We could call July the 4th a soaker, and it shouldn’t be an all day rain, it basically depends on where you live. However, for those grilling outside it could be a challenge throughout the afternoon, Rain totals are expected to be near an inch. Highs will be around 77. Lows will 67, as the rain is still holding on. FRIDAY: 40% chance for showers and storms. Highs will reach 78, and lows will be around 65. SATURDAY: Spotty showers and storms are expected through the heart of the afternoon and into the evening hours. Highs will be reaching near 80 degrees. Lows will be around 67. *Estimated rainfall totals between now and Thursday is sowing that some areas could pick up a cumulative 1-2 inches of rain, certainly a week when the ground will be saturated. Try to make it safe heading out in the fog this morning.
