5% Body Fat Philosophy Some of you may know that I turn 50 next year and my goal is to compete in Master Nationals. I decided to do a dry run so to speak, to test my theories, evaluate the results (or lack thereof) and have a definitive game plan for 2015. I have reached the condition that I want to for this year. I am at 90-95% of where I want to be for next year in the contest prep. I will try to hold, no OWN, this condition for another month, then gradually ease into a maintenance program for 2-3 months to give my body a rest and allow me to recharge batteries. So what did I do or NOT do that would constitute the final 5% of prep for next year? Diet: My diet has been very relaxed and instinctual. I said that this is the ONLY way that I can compete. I do not run what I do my ANY other person for approval. I DO NOT get my information from the internet nor do I have a guru or prep coach. I am the expert. There are guys prepping guys and gals who are getting prepped by guys who get their information from another guy. Well, in this trickle down approach to training and nutrition much of the science is lost and people who do not have the expertise are regurgitating information that they do not understand. This has been a relatively easy prep as far as diet. The Menu A,B and C diets I am posting are something that I didnt implement until the last few weeks. Prior to that I just prioritized protein, paid attention to how my body reacted to certain carbs and took a gradual healthy approach to diet. Until this week I still had my scones for breakfast, the occasional Margarita and ate out twice a week. What I wanted to accomplish that is different than the status quo regarding diet? NO TILAPIA! I did not eat the first piece of that nasty fish. NO 0 CARB DAYS! I am not BIG enough to jeopardize my strength and size by going NO CARB! I have not gone below 150 carbs a day. KEEP RED MEAT in diet. I never exceeded 315 grams protein. This was my max and usually I stayed around 200 grams. I NEVER COUNTED FAT GRAMS. I instinctually lowered fats as I increased carbs. I eliminated fats two days out from show.
