5 FITNESS HABITS TO KEEP YOU MOTIVATED Staying motivated to stick with your workout routine isnt always easy. Still, there are some things you can do to keep yourself on track. Adopting some positive fitness habits can help you reach your goals and build upon your success. The more consistent you are with your schedule, the easier it will be. Here are five fitness habits that can help you stick to your workout regimen this season: 1. Having a specific purpose for every session. Focus on one small goal for each and every workout you complete. Whether youre on the Curves circuit to sculpt and strengthen your body or working on your endurance, make sure you know why youre doing what youre doing. Having a clear purpose or goal fresh in your mind as you go into the workout can make you work harder and feel more satisfied with the work you just did. 2. Marking off your workouts on a calendar. A workout calendar can be a great tool for scheduling your workout sessions and seeing how far youve come over the course of the month. Get into the habit of marking off when you work out so you have a log of your activities. You can also use online tools or smartphone apps to log your workouts within seconds. 3. Getting enough sleep. If you dont give your body enough time to recover between workouts, your performance - and motivation level - will suffer. Make sure youre getting at least seven to eight hours of quality sleep every night. Set up your bedroom so its conducive to a restful nights sleep and block out any extra light if possible. 4. Setting realistic goals. Be very, very specific about what you expect to achieve with your workouts this season and what types of results you want to see in the mirror. Dont just say you want to lose ten pounds or get in shape. These goals are too vague and wont do much for your motivation level. Choose a specific, motivating goal, like fitting into your favorite size 8 jeans, getting off your blood pressure medication, or being in shape for your family beach vacation next summer. Then, decide how you’re going to achieve that goal (like completing four circuit workouts and one walking session this week). Be specific and realistic when setting your fitness goals and youll find the motivation to keep pushing ahead. 5. Challenging yourself. If you tend to get stuck in a workout rut easily, youre probably not pushing yourself hard enough.
