5 January, in 1477, death of Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy. He was the husband to Margaret of York (sister of King Edward IV) and son of Philip the Good and Isabella of Portugal. Charles married Margaret in 1468, as his third wife. He died at the age of 43 at the battle of Nancy, his disfigured body was found some days afterwards. His (empty) tomb and that of his daughter Mary can be seen in the Onze Lieve Vrouwekerk in Bruges.
