5. Materialism, deception of wealth and Established Churches God blesses His saints with all good things how and when it pleases Him! Those who teach otherwise, preaching poverty as virtue are promoting one of the pillars of religion. However, there is a real danger when saints are exposed to persistent preaching and teachings on material wealth and the need to get rich. This can shift their focus in life from the Kingdom to self gratification, a direct disobedience to Jesus in Matthew 6:19-34 . The warning of Paul in 1 Timothy 6:6-10 is not to be taken lightly. Here is how Jesus looked at a Church which boasted in its wealth. It is a message that should cause the Church in The West to turn to the Lord in repentance!
