5 Publishing rules to live by... 1. When presenting the title of the book, or the authors name horizontally on the side of the book, make sure its not overcrowded and is easy to read. 2. Color is very important. Make sure colors are not conflicting with one another (ie: vomit yellow and fluorescent orange). It is not appealing to the human eye, and could initially make a person bypass the book all together. 3. A great marketing strategy is the use of a photograph all the way across the book (vs. just the cover). It entices the reader to view all sides of the book (whether they wanted to or not). 4. The use of black and white with color in the mix is an excellent attention getter. Just always make sure the use of color is some how significant to the story itself. 5. Typography can be your best friend or your worse nightmare. Try choosing a font that is appropriate for the subject matter within the book.
