5 REASONS WHY CHELSEA WILL WIN THE PREMIER LEAGUE THIS - TopicsExpress

5 REASONS WHY CHELSEA WILL WIN THE PREMIER LEAGUE THIS SEASON Despite struggling to maintain its top four status last season, Chelsea have been tipped by pundits to wrestle away the title from arch-rivals Manchester United. This is due to many factor and below are the top five reasons: 1. The Mourinho Factor Everyone who follows football knows the name Jose Mourinho. He may not be the most loved character, but he has a reputation for winning titles. He has won leagues in four major European countries, and is revered by many as the best manager in the world. Apart from Mourinho’s title winning reputation is his charisma and clout, which is essential for any manager who wants to succeed in the premier league. Mourinho knows the premier league, he knows how to win it, and this is advantage Chelsea as they gun for their fourth league title in nine years. 2. Chelsea’s Defensive Shield Any observer of Chelsea games this season would observe a sense of solidity and remarkable organisation. Apart from Benteke’s wonder strike at the Bridge, the blues have not conceded in three league games, and this is due to a hard working back four in front of a brilliant Petr Cech. It is no more myth that if you want to win the Premier League, you have to be stingy at the back. And Chelsea are doing very well in that department. The game against Bayern also shows how much organised the team can be if the need to defend a goal arises. Though Bayern was lucky to nick a goal at the extra minute, the positive for Chelsea is that that attitude could win them the title. 3. The MAZACAR weapon It seems that Juan Mata is not in Mourinho’s plans; the gifted midfielder has not started any of the blues game this season. However, Mourinho has downplayed such speculations, explaining that Mata’s limited inclusion in the team has been due to fitness issues and team tactics. We have seen what the trio of Oscar, Mata, and Hazard are capable of doing when they are playing together and linking up well. They can unlock defences with their impeccable passing and exquisite touches. This is the kind of attack that a title winning team needs and they could prove to be the most lethal combination in the league this season. 4.Unlimited Options This Chelsea team is brimming with options in all departments. The team has depth, which is the mark of any title contender. The Premier League is a long reason and it is the reason why fairly good teams like Tottenham and Liverpool, who start out very brightly, can never sustain the intensity. You need depth to win the title and Chelsea have solved that problem. In defence, they have four fantastic players who can play in central back (Terry, Luiz, Cahill, and Ivanovic). The midfield position is flooded with talents, and even the attack, with the addition of Eto’o, is stuffed. When January beckons, and teams start getting tired, you can bank on the Chelsea team to still be fresh and rearing to go. 5. Lack of a credible challenge This reason may seem rather misleading, but it is true. Manchester United are going through a transitional season. Moyes is under a lot of pressure and the transfer market has not been fair to united fans. Manchester City once again will try to adjust to new manager Pellegrini’s style and tactics. And since the former Real Madrid tactician is new to England, he may find too late that the English title race is a lot different from that of Spain. Arsenal remain outsiders and unless they make major moves before the transfer window shuts, they may find it hard to crack the top four egg this season. Tottenham lack the depth to challenge for the title and Liverpool would settle for a chance in Europe.
