5 THOUSAND KILOS DRIED SHARK FINS INTERCEPTED. A 20 foot container van containing 5 thousand kilos of dried shark fins was intercepted late this morning in Mandaue City. Earlier, concerned citizens gave a tip on dried shark fins in a van. The joint team of the Lapulapu City Task Force Kalikasan and the Cebu Province Anti Illegal Fishing Task Force conducted a surveillance prior to the interception at 11:30 this morning. Based on an official receipt from the Cebu Port Authority, the shipper is a company called Shell Haven Fashion International with office address in Lapulapu City and consignee is Qian Hang Trading Corporation in Hong Kong. At an estimated 3,000 pesos per kilo, the shipment of 5,000 kilos dried shark fin would amount to 15 million pesos. Charges on the violation of Ordinance 2012-05 or the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Ordinance of Cebu will be filed next week.
