5 Thankful Things for 5 Days (1/5) 1) Our family is in the process of making an enormous decision, and yesterday I was overwhelmed with the potential ramifications of choosing poorly. I am thankful for the wise counsel that I received yesterday and today, and for friends who understand my background and motivations well enough to pick apart the knots in my thought yarn. 2) I am thankful for the family and friends who love my children deeply. 3) A few years ago a mysterious switch was flipped in mind, and suddenly I saw and understood the depth of the things that I had not seen or understood—my ignorance was made clear. I am thankful to the many, many people who have patiently answered my invasive questions about their private beliefs. 4) I am thankful for loyalty in all its forms. A friend recently said, “You never share any good gossip anymore!”—it was the most flattering thing anyone has ever said to me. 5) I am thankful for a life partner who has been my gentlest and kindest friend, even in the midst of times when I have acted neither gentle nor kind.
