5 fancy suburbs in Tokyo you should visit Have you been to Tokyo many times and want to experience more local areas on your next visit? We will introduce you to some of the most interesting suburbs in Tokyo over 5 posts. 1. Kichijoji Kichijoji (located in Musashino-city) is accessible within 20 minutes from either Shinjuku or Shibuya. Its a pity that not more tourists visit this close-by suburb that was ranked as the most popular place to live in Tokyo last year, as it has a lot to offer you would not want to miss! At the sun-road shopping arcade and other fancy shopping streets and alleys, you can find shopping facilities from big department stores to cozy little mom-and-pop stores. You wont be disappointed by the great variety of chic cafés and local eateries often full of students from nearby universities either. The biggest attraction in Kichijoji is probably the Inokashira Park, a spacious green park with lots of stuff going on. Especially on holidays, the park is crowded with many people spending their day off strolling through the park or rowing a boat on the parks lake. There is also a zoo to visit, and the park is directly connected to the famous Ghibli Museum. Photos taken from: gotokyo.org/en/tourists/areas/areamap/kichijoji.html
